Brad Lieberman is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained at Columbia and Johns Hopkins, and a former attorney. He founded The Lieberman Center for Psychotherapeutics to give high-achieving professionals psychiatric care that takes their time, their goals, and their privacy seriously. His approach is clinical precision grounded in real collaboration. He is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and completed a psychodynamic fellowship, and as a prescriber he can offer medication, therapy, or both. Treatment plans are built around your life as it actually is, not a template, and they are revisited as your circumstances change. If work, school, or the weight of everything at once has left you dealing with anxiety, depression, or burnout, you do not have to sort it out alone.

Getting to know Brad Lieberman

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first thing you should know is that Brad will listen. The first visit is a full 60 minutes, and most of it is spent understanding you: what brought you in, what has and hasn't helped before, what your days actually look like, and what you are hoping will be different. Symptoms matter, but they are where the inquiry starts, not where it ends. Before he was a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Brad was an attorney, and much of that work was examining evidence: asking what a fact actually shows, what is missing, and what explanation fits everything rather than just the loudest piece. He brings the same discipline to the clinical picture. He does not arrive at a diagnosis or a prescription quickly, he asks a lot of questions, and he keeps asking as treatment goes on, because the picture changes and the plan should change with it. Trained in both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy, and able to prescribe, Brad can offer therapy, medication, or both. Which one, and in what combination, comes out of that understanding rather than a default. You work directly with Brad from the first call onward. There is no intake coordinator and no rotating clinician. Between visits you reach him by secure email, sent to him directly, with a reply within 48 hours. Follow-up is set at a cadence you agree on together. If you'd rather talk before booking, message us.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It starts with a conversation. If you have questions before booking, message and you will reach Brad, not a front desk. Once you book, you will complete intake paperwork online before the first visit so the time in the room is spent on you, not on forms. The first visit is a 60-minute evaluation. Brad takes a full history: what is happening now, how it developed, prior treatment and what came of it, medical factors, sleep, substances, work, relationships, and what you want to be different. He will tell you at the end of that visit what he thinks is going on and what he would recommend, and if the picture is not yet clear he will say that too rather than force a diagnosis. From there you build a plan together. Depending on what fits, that may be psychotherapy, medication, or both, along with the non-prescription pieces (sleep, exercise, routines) that make the rest work. Nothing starts without you understanding why. Follow-up visits are set at a cadence you agree on, closer together at the start and spacing out as things stabilize. Between visits you reach Brad by secure email, sent directly to him, with a reply within 48 hours. Each follow-up revisits the plan against what has actually changed, so treatment adjusts as you do. If at any point Brad believes someone else would serve you better, he will tell you and help you get there.
