Getting to know Dr. Bradley Engwall
Greetings!
Life is messy. It doesn't always deal us the hand we hoped it might. I've devoted my career to the passionate pursuit of the best means of helping individuals and families struggling with life's messiness. I aim for the high level of engagement and trust necessary to foster recovery from complex problems.
I am a Board-Certified psychiatrist with full training in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago, completed my residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and pursued fellowship training there as well. I offer personalized, expert psychiatric services to adults, teens, and children, including comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, and integrative medical treatment-combining Western psychiatric medications with herbs and supplements-for most psychiatric conditions. I also provide EEG-guided medication selection and advanced expertise in psychiatric genetic testing, which can be helpful in tailoring treatment choices and dosing to your unique makeup.
My approach is patient-centered and engaging. I place a premium on careful listening and connecting with what's most important to a patient or family so that we collaborate effectively toward what matters most to them. Regarding psychotherapy, I enjoy working with adults, children, and teens and am comfortable treating a variety of problems including mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD. My therapeutic approach draws from extensive training in a variety of psychotherapy methods.
Together, we'll decide on the approaches best suited to you or your child.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Thank you for your interest in Dr. Engwall’s practice. The standard onboarding process is detailed here. The first step will be for us to open a chart for you in Luminello, our Electronic Health Records Program. Once your account has been created, we will post the following documents for your completion.
1. Forms to be completed:
a. Consent to Treatment-Practice Policies
b. Release of Information
c. Credit Card Guarantor Authorization
d. Appropriate Intake Questionnaire – Adult or Child
f. Good Faith Estimate of costs
2. For Ketamine Assisted Therapy patients
a. Requisition for Genetic testing and information on the process, if applicable
3. All first appointments will be initial evaluations designed for you and Dr Engwall to meet; for Dr. Engwall to learn about you, your needs and treatments goals; to determine if there is a good fit and decide on a treatment plan.
4. Dr Engwall prefers to conduct evaluations in person. Once calendared, evaluation appointments are not cancellable or reschedulable without being charged for the time reserved.

Dr Engwall is an excellent therapist. He has demonstrated great knowledge of possible treatment options always presents a professional and caring demeaner. I am grateful to have found him, and I would highly recommend him to anyone suffering through a difficult time in their life.

What I like most about visiting Brad is that he always helps me understand the difficulties I'm dealing with in a better/ more complete/ optimistic sense, and how to deal/cope with them. I've come so far from my first visit with regards to better dealing with my condition mentally/emotionally I cannot thank Brad enough for his help.
