Brandi Britnell

Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatry)
MA
I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who believes that mental health care should be compassionate, individualized, and centered around the whole person. I work with individuals across the lifespan who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, and other mental health challenges. I believe that seeking mental health care is a sign of strength, not weakness. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free environment where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing. I recognize that every person’s story is different, and I take the time to understand the individual behind the diagnosis.

Getting to know Brandi Britnell

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is collaborative and individualized. I believe effective psychiatric care involves more than simply identifying a diagnosis or prescribing medication. I consider biological, psychological, social, environmental, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to a person's mental health. When appropriate, I incorporate medication management with education and evidence-based, non-pharmacological approaches. I want my clients to understand their treatment options and feel involved in decisions about their care. I also believe strongly in meeting people where they are. My role is not to tell someone who they should be, but to work alongside them to help them better understand themselves, develop healthy coping strategies, and move toward the life they want to live.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brought you to treatment. We will discuss your current concerns, mental health history, symptoms, goals, medications, and other factors that may be affecting your well-being. In a HIPPA compliant environment, I encourage clients to be open and honest, but there is never pressure to share more than they are comfortable sharing. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to have an authentic conversation. By the end of the initial visit, we will work together to develop an individualized treatment plan based on your needs and goals. Whether that includes medication management, lifestyle changes, therapy recommendations, or other supportive interventions, we will determine the next steps together.
