About Dr. Brian Capogna
Dr. Brian Capogna is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries. He has specialized training and research interest in hip arthroscopy to address FAI (femoroacetabular impingement) and labral tears. In addition, Dr. Capogna performs Tommy John ligament (UCL) reconstruction and the Tommy John ligament repair technique pioneered by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Capogna was born and raised on Long island. He attended St. Anthony's High School in Huntington, where he graduated with honors and went on to undergraduate studies at Villanova University. He attained a bachelor's degree with magna cum laude honors in biology and was a member of the Beta Beta Beta (BBB) Biology Honor Society.
Dr. Capogna attained his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and graduated with distinction in orthopedic research. He was also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society, an honor given to only the top 5% of aspiring doctors. Dr. Capogna went on to train in orthopedic surgery at the nationally ranked NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, New York, where he was named executive chief resident. During his residency Dr. Capogna received training from renowned orthopedic surgeons, including Dr. Joseph Zuckerman, the former president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
During his residency training, Dr. Capogna received the Nate Bondi Resident Leadership Award as well as the Ralph Lusskin Chief Resident Teaching Award. Dr. Capogna developed a passion for sports medicine after treating athletes from all walks of life and abilities, from weekend warriors to professional athletes. He was selected to attend a sports medicine fellowship at the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. There, he received specialized training in the diagnosis, management, and cutting-edge surgical treatment of sports injuries.

I was asked to fill out my personal info using an iPad. I didn’t get a chance to fill out my medical history & medications cause the iPad froze, so I went to front desk to inform them. Front desk staff said I’m all good (even though I didn’t fill out rest of paperwork) and she told me to wait when called. When I saw Dr. Capogna, he didn’t spend time to ask me when my condition started & how it happened. He just made quick assumptions based on my symptoms. I had to jump in & bring up the background of my injury to him. I can tell that he was in a rush. He literally just spent a few minutes with the patient next door to mine. And now he’s doing the same to me. The entire appointment felt so rushed. He simply gave me two medications without knowing my prior medical history & possible drug allergies or interactions. He was out of there in a heartbeat & moved on to the next patient next door down. I was so disappointed. I was just a number & $ to him. I will never recommend him to anyone.

My son had a knee injury. Appointment was at 9AM, we were seen immediately after completing the check in. PA took down basic info, X ray tech came in after just a minute of waiting. The doc came in one or two minutes after x rays. All was very quick, no pointless wait time. The doctor was extremely friendly and know and we were very happy. Highly recommend!

I was shocked. Signing in took minutes. Waited to be called in less then 2minuutes!!!! Called brought into room, within seconds some questions asked and then change into gown for X-rays and that only took minutes. Returned saw Dr within minutes and the entire visit was less then 20 minutes.Superb job done by all. Wish my every appointment could be that breif. Again great job
