What should a new client know about working with you?

What can you expect in working with me? My practice style is one of high collaboration. I do not dictate care, or force treatment decisions. My job is to provide you with well explained options that will allow you to make a well informed final decision on how your care will proceed. My goal is to assist you in achieving optimal wellness and a high level of personal agency. I speak plainly and directly (no psychobabble, unless you ask for it), and try to have conversations with you as opposed to talking at you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me will incorporate a lot of questions from my end. The purpose of this is to make sure we are both on the same wavelength and are discussing the true items causing distress in your life. I often engage my patients in brief talk therapy to immediately address any distress. I use CBT, strength based and mindfulness therapy approaches. At the end of every session I will provide teaching around psychiatric diagnosis as well as detailed explanations around medication options. Initial visits are 60 minutes. Follow up visits are 30 minutes.
