Getting to know Brianna Johnson
I am a state-licensed, Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2017. I completed a Master of Science in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I received intensive education and clinical training to treat clients with various psychiatric disorders across their lifespans. I have extensive experience treating adult patients suffering from depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma-related issues.
Between 2015 and 2016, I collaborated with a psychiatrist to create a home care plan while supporting an individual and their caregivers coping with dementia, Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, anxiety, grief, depression, and other psychiatric conditions. I evaluate and assess the medical, cognitive, emotional, psychosocial, developmental, behavioral health, and psychiatric nursing needs of clients. I have also worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) Adjunct Nursing Instructor with a concentration in mental health, where I supported nursing professionals seeking to leverage extensive experience and recent certification into the next phase of a rewarding nursing career. I build rapport and provide advocacy for my patients.
I conducted therapeutic services that included individual and group therapy in a psychiatric intensive day treatment program for adults primarily 55 years and older with psychiatric diagnoses. I provided immediate feedback to patients during sessions to help them gain awareness of their own psychodynamics.
