Brianne Dunning, PMHNP

Brianne Dunning, PMHNP

Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
VA
I have been a nurse since 2013 and have had the privilege of caring for adults across education, surgery, outpatient psychiatry, and substance-use treatment. I earned my BSN from Milligan College and MSN from East Tennessee State University and am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the ANCC. My experience includes inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth care, and I bring a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach to each patient. I believe feeling heard and understood is an important part of healing, so I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment where patients can be open about their experiences, concerns, and goals. Because every person is different, I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I take time to understand each patient and encourage active participation in their care. I use evidence-based treatment while keeping care practical and individualized. Together, we explore what is happening, identify meaningful goals, and develop a realistic, manageable plan. When medication is part of treatment, I provide clear education about options, potential benefits and side effects, and what to expect. My goal is for patients to feel respected, supported, and hopeful, with a clear understanding of their next steps.
