Getting to know Bridget Okeke

Hello, I’m Bridget Okeke, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of nursing experience and 4 years dedicated specifically to psychiatric care. My background includes inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, and substance use treatment, where I worked closely with individuals during some of the most difficult and overwhelming periods of their lives. That experience continues to shape how I show up for my clients today. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults facing conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, ADHD, OCD, psychotic disorders, and substance use. I also support individuals managing long-standing or complex mental health challenges who may feel stuck, misunderstood, or unsure of what direction to take next. What matters most to me is helping you make sense of what you are experiencing. Many people come in feeling overwhelmed or unheard, especially if past care felt rushed or impersonal. I take a different approach by slowing things down, listening closely, and helping you gain clarity around your symptoms so that treatment actually feels meaningful and manageable. My care combines thoughtful medication management with therapy-informed support and practical strategies you can use in your daily life. I am not here to simply prescribe. I am here to partner with you, so you feel more stable, more confident, and more in control of your mental health over time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting mental health care can feel like a big step. My goal is to make the process feel clear, supportive, and collaborative from the very beginning. First Appointment We begin with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation lasting 60 to 90 minutes. During this time, we talk through your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, stressors, strengths, and personal goals. I take my time with this so I can fully understand what you are going through, not just on the surface, but in a way that helps guide meaningful next steps. Diagnosis and Treatment Plan If a diagnosis is appropriate, I will explain it clearly and answer any questions you have. Together, we will build a treatment plan that may include medication, therapy referrals, and practical lifestyle strategies. You will always understand the reasoning behind each recommendation so you feel informed and comfortable with the direction we take. Follow Up Visits Follow up appointments typically last 15 to 30 minutes and are scheduled based on your needs. These visits focus on your progress, how you are feeling, and whether any adjustments are needed. We also address side effects, challenges, and anything new that may come up along the way. Your Voice Matters Your care is never one sided. I see this as a partnership where your input is essential. You are always encouraged to ask questions, share concerns, and be actively involved in your treatment. The best outcomes happen when you feel heard, respected, and confident in your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with a thorough and thoughtful psychiatric assessment. I use evidence-based screening tools along with clinical judgment to develop a clear understanding of: - Your current symptoms and how they are affecting your daily life - Your mental health and treatment history, including what has or has not worked in the past - Stressors, triggers, and environmental factors that may be contributing to your symptoms - Your medical background and any factors that may impact treatment decisions - Personal strengths, coping patterns, and support systems - What you would like to change, improve, or better understand From there, we work together to build a personalized treatment plan that feels realistic, effective, and aligned with your goals. This may include medication management, but always with a thoughtful and measured approach. I take time to explain options, expected benefits, and potential side effects so you can make informed decisions with confidence. In addition to medication, I incorporate psychoeducation and practical, therapy-informed strategies to help you better manage symptoms, regulate emotions, and improve day-to-day functioning. My goal is for you to leave sessions not just with a prescription, but with tools you can actually use in your life. Follow-up visits focus on tracking your progress over time, monitoring how you are responding to treatment, and making adjustments when needed. As your needs evolve, your treatment plan evolves with you. If helpful, I also coordinate with therapists, primary care providers, or other specialists to ensure your care is connected, consistent, and fully supportive.

Bridget is wonderful! She is compassionate and professional. Bridget also shows me her concern and care by asking me questions to make sure I am doing well or needing any adjustments with medications. Very responsive when I reach out with questions after my visits, too.
Ms. Okeke is the best. Unlike other therapists I had in the past, she is more understanding of subjects is hard for me to describe. When I can't find the words to describe certain feelings and emotions, she helps break down everything. She has helped me in finding out exactly what needs to be addressed with a plan on how to go about everything. Very flexible with her schedule. Gets back to messages in a timely manner. Has always made herself available for extra therapy if needed. very straight forward and my favorite thing... her very calm and soothing voice.
I cannot express enough how grateful I am for this provider. From the very first moment, she was attentive, responsive, and incredibly validating in a way I have never experienced in a mental health setting before. I came to her feeling completely lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to turn. For the first time, I truly felt heard and seen. Her compassion, empathy, and steady reassurance created a sense of safety. She listened without judgment, understood my concerns deeply, and guided me with clarity and care. In just two sessions, she made an impact that genuinely changed my life. I am walking away with a renewed sense of hope, direction, and confidence. I am endlessly thankful for her dedication, her kindness, and the way she shows up for her patients. She is a rare and remarkable provider, and I am so grateful I found her. I would recommend her to ANYONE struggling, it takes one person to change everything.

This is another review because I want anyone reading to truly understand how exceptional this provider is. From the start, she was compassionate, responsive, and deeply understanding. I have never felt so genuinely listened to in a behavioral health setting. When I reached out, I was confused, discouraged, and unsure of what I needed. She met me with patience, clarity, and a level of care that made me feel safe and respected. For the first time, I felt my experiences were heard without being minimized. Her support in just two sessions created a sense of direction and peace that I had been missing for so long. Her insight and empathy helped me reconnect with myself in a meaningful way, and I am truly grateful for the impact she has had on my life. She is a remarkable provider, and I hope this second review helps others feel confident in choosing her.
