What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where they feel comfortable being themselves. I understand that seeking mental health treatment can feel overwhelming, and my goal is to help clients feel heard, respected, and supported from the very first appointment. My approach is warm, collaborative, and solution-focused. I believe clients should play an active role in their treatment, and I work closely with each person to develop an individualized plan that aligns with their goals, preferences, and needs. I take time to understand not only symptoms, but also life experiences, stressors, relationships, physical health, strengths, and personal goals that may impact overall well-being. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and trauma. I use evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, and interpersonal techniques to help clients gain insight, improve coping skills, strengthen motivation for change, and build healthier patterns in daily life. Clients can expect open communication, compassion, and practical support throughout treatment. Whether discussing medication options, coping strategies, or lifestyle factors affecting mental health, I aim to ensure clients feel informed, empowered, and actively involved in their care. My goal is for each client to leave sessions with greater clarity, hope, and confidence in their ability to move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first appointment focuses on developing a comprehensive understanding of the client’s concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, current stressors, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. I take time to explore what clients are experiencing, how symptoms affect daily functioning, and any previous treatment experiences, including medications or therapy that may or may not have been helpful. I provide psychiatric evaluations for adolescents and adults and work collaboratively with clients to create individualized treatment plans based on their unique needs and goals. Treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, education, coping strategies, and recommendations for additional therapeutic support when appropriate. My approach integrates medication management with therapeutic techniques including motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, and interpersonal approaches. Sessions are conversational, supportive, and focused on helping clients better understand their symptoms, identify barriers to wellness, and develop practical strategies for improvement. Follow-up appointments focus on monitoring symptoms, evaluating progress, adjusting medications when needed, discussing side effects or concerns, and continuing to build coping skills and emotional resilience. I believe treatment works best when clients feel actively involved in the process, so I encourage open communication and shared decision-making throughout care. My goal is to help clients feel understood, supported, and empowered while working toward improved mental health, functioning, and overall quality of life.
