Brooke Walker, PMHNP

Brooke Walker, PMHNP

Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NC
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in correctional and mental health nursing as an RN. I began my nursing career as a Nurse Aid in 2003 in Michigan. I am passionate and dedicated to serving those with mental health needs and reducing the stigma associated with mental health, as mental health affects us all either directly or indirectly. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you? During our first session, I will obtain a thorough mental and physical health history including past and current treatments along with pertinent family hex. We will discuss past trials on various medications and how they have impacted your life. Together, we will develop an appropriate treatment plan that includes medications, therapy and/or referrals to substance abuse programs if indicated. Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths. My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to build a therapeutic and comforting rapport with patients that encompasses trust. Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve. I enjoy working with adolescent and adults who may be reluctant to reach out for support for their mental health needs. I will provide you with empowerment, support and advocacy to help you better understand how our brains work, affect our emotions and ultimately, drive our behaviors.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
