Going into medicine was an easy choice for me because I've been a natural caretaker since I was about 12. After having four biological children, my parents opened our home to local children in foster care when I was in seventh grade. Over the next seven years, we took in and loved over 40 children. Over time, we were blessed to add seven adopted siblings to our mix, and now my family wouldn't feel complete without them. During nursing school, I figured pediatrics was the obvious specialty choice because of my experience with children but was surprised to not feel drawn to it during my clinical rotation. Near the end of nursing school, I had my first child - delivered by a midwife - and fell in love with the care I received throughout my pregnancy and during labor and delivery. After graduating in 2017, I made my way into a labor and delivery unit with an amazing group of midwives. I felt honored to advocate and intimately care for women during their most joyous, and sometimes most heartbreaking, experiences. My passion for women's health grew deeper over time, and I found I wanted to make a more long-lasting impact. After having my fourth child, I was ready to go back to school for midwifery. There were many challenges as I pursued my education - including financial, transportation, childcare struggles and more - but I had faith and was determined to make my passion and purpose come to life. Now, I'm thankful every day to have a career full of purpose and impact. It is a privilege to educate and empower women about their bodies and their health whether it's at a well-woman annual exam, or at a problem visit for a concern. I coach patients through everything from menstruation to contraception, pregnancy to postpartum and beyond. My goal with every patient is to make her feel safe, supported, and empowered to make knowledgeable decisions based on the education and care I provide.
