Caitlin Skorupski, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist
CA
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California, specializing in trauma, ADHD, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, and life transitions. I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, process past experiences, and work toward meaningful change. I integrate evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients heal and grow. In my work, I’ve adapted my practice to provide neurodiversity-affirming care, particularly for clients navigating ADHD, within my EMDR and trauma-focused work. Whether you’re dealing with the aftermath of trauma, struggling with mental health challenges, or navigating a life transition, I’m here to meet you where you are. My approach is warm and collaborative, allowing you to take the lead in your healing while offering guidance and tools to help you make lasting change. I believe in being a supportive presence, a sounding board for your thoughts, and someone who helps you build trust in your own experience. At times, I’ll challenge you to push past barriers, but I’m also here to accept you for who you are, no matter where you’re starting from.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you’ll find a therapist who is here to listen without judgment. I can be the person you need when you just need to vent or have a sounding board for the thoughts swirling around in your mind. Whether you're looking for a challenge to grow or simply a space where you feel heard, I’m here to meet you where you’re at. My approach is warm, collaborative, and accepting. I aim to provide a supportive space that allows for both compassion and honesty, where we can explore difficult topics with a bit of lightness when necessary. Mental health is a journey, and it’s not always easy, but I’ll be right there with you as we work through the ups and downs together. I’m here to support, challenge, and accept you for who you are, as you work toward the changes you want to make.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we begin working together, the first few sessions will focus on getting to know you, understanding your goals, and learning about the challenges you’re facing. I take a strengths-based approach, which means I’ll focus on what’s going well in your life and how we can build upon those strengths to help you overcome obstacles. I’ll also incorporate trauma-informed practices and neurodivergent-affirming care, especially for clients with ADHD, so you can feel supported and understood throughout the process. In each session, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and work together to develop coping strategies. If we’re working on trauma, we might use EMDR to process past experiences and help you move forward. I want to make sure you feel empowered to take control of your healing and growth, so I’ll be there to provide guidance, but also give you space to work through things at your own pace. Every session is about you, your needs, and what feels most comfortable for you in the healing process.
