What should a new client know about working with you?

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where we take the time to understand your full history — not just your symptoms. I want to know what has brought you to this point, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping to achieve. From there, we build a treatment plan together that reflects your goals, your lifestyle, and your values. My style is direct but gentle — I ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully, and offer honest clinical guidance without judgment. Sessions are collaborative conversations, not lectures. I will challenge you when it is helpful and encourage you when you need it. My goal is not to create dependency on treatment but to equip you with insight, tools, and clarity so that over time, you feel more capable of navigating life on your own terms. Therapeutically, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, Psychoeducation to ensure you truly understand your diagnosis and treatment options, Mindfulness-Based techniques to build present-moment awareness and emotional regulation, and Supportive Therapy to provide a consistent, safe space where you feel genuinely heard. A few things to know before we meet: All appointments are telehealth. You will need a private, quiet space and a reliable internet connection. Sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. I prescribe medication when appropriate, including stimulants for ADHD, but medication is never the only focus. We look at the full picture — sleep, stress, relationships, and daily habits — because those factors matter just as much. I order labs as part of your care. Blood work is sometimes necessary to rule out underlying medical causes of psychiatric symptoms, monitor medication safety, or get a clearer picture of your overall health. If labs are needed, I will explain why and send the order directly to a lab convenient for you. You are an active partner in your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every patient's journey with me begins the same way — with a real conversation. Not a checklist. A genuine exchange where I get to know you as a person before I ever consider a diagnosis or treatment plan. The Initial Evaluation Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, typically 60 minutes. We cover your current symptoms, mental health and medical history, sleep, relationships, stress, and the overall context of your daily life. By the end of that first session, you will have my clinical impressions, a working diagnosis if applicable, and a clear recommended treatment plan. You will never leave in the dark about where we stand. If lab work is needed to rule out underlying medical contributors to your symptoms, I will place those orders and review the results with you directly. Follow-Up Sessions Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes. We check in on how you have been feeling, assess how medications are working, address any concerns, and adjust your plan as needed. I practice talk therapy as an integrated part of my psychiatric care — not a separate add-on — drawing from CBT, Mindfulness-Based techniques, Psychoeducation, and Supportive Therapy to keep moving you forward. Medication Management Every medication recommendation comes with a full explanation — what it is, how it works, what to expect, and what we are monitoring. For ADHD patients, I conduct thorough evaluations and prescribe stimulants when clinically appropriate. The Ongoing Relationship Over time, sessions become increasingly collaborative. You will begin to recognize your own patterns, anticipate your triggers, and apply what we have worked on with greater confidence. That growing self-awareness is one of the most meaningful outcomes of this work. You can expect to be treated as a whole person — not a diagnosis, not a prescription. You deserve care that sees all of you, and that is exactly what I am here to provide.
