“Candice is the most caring and supportive medical provider I have ever had. In what have been some of the most difficult months of my life, she has been pivotal to my care and wellbeing. Seriously, she has gone above and beyond to support me, and has done more than I could ever expect from any another provider. ESA Letters, medical forms, phone calls on my behalf--I am immensely grateful for her care, and I have nothing but praise and respect for her dedication to this profession and her skill as a provider. Best provider I've ever worked with, hands-down. ”

Getting to know Candice Jeffers

I'm Candice Jeffers, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a unique background that combines critical care nursing expertise with specialized mental health training. I recently completed my Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of South Alabama, bringing fresh knowledge and evidence-based approaches to patient care. My journey in healthcare spans nearly a decade, including nine years as a Cardiovascular ICU Supervisor where I developed exceptional crisis management skills and learned to address mental health concerns in high-stress medical environments. This experience taught me the importance of seeing patients holistically – understanding how physical and mental health interconnect. I specialize in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and urgent mental health consultations across all age groups. My training includes expertise in suicide risk assessment, trauma-informed care, and addiction psychiatry (MOUD certified). I'm particularly skilled at helping patients navigate mental health crises while providing compassionate, evidence-based treatment. What sets my practice apart is my ability to remain calm under pressure while building genuine therapeutic relationships. I believe in collaborative care, working closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that emphasize medication adherence and comprehensive aftercare. My goal is to provide accessible mental health care through telehealth services, ensuring patients receive timely support when they need it most. I'm committed to patient education and empowerment, helping individuals understand their conditions and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their mental health journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in medication management, my focus is helping you find real, meaningful symptom relief through personalized, attentive care. Strong clinical treatment and genuine compassion go hand in hand — my goal is for you to feel at ease and confident that you are receiving the thoughtful care you deserve. Your first appointment will be thorough and unhurried. I conduct a detailed evaluation covering your current symptoms, their severity, duration, and what tends to improve or worsen them, along with how they are affecting your work, relationships, sleep, and daily functioning. I also review your psychiatric and medical history, past medications and your response to them, prior hospitalizations, current prescriptions and supplements, relevant family psychiatric history, substance use, and the life stressors you are navigating right now. This complete picture forms the foundation for every recommendation I make. When it comes to prescribing, my approach is both evidence-based and tailored specifically to you. I explain how each medication works, which symptoms it targets, realistic expectations for improvement and timing, possible side effects, and what I will monitor along the way. My aim is for you to feel genuinely informed and involved — not simply handed a prescription. I prioritize medications with solid research support and favorable tolerability, tracking your progress closely and adjusting your plan whenever needed. Ongoing accessibility matters to me. If you notice side effects, have concerns, or experience unexpected changes between visits, I encourage you to reach out rather than waiting. Effective medication management is built on continuous communication, not just scheduled appointments. I also coordinate actively with your other healthcare providers to ensure your care stays connected and cohesive. You should never have to navigate this alone. You deserve a team that works together on your behalf.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is grounded in empathy, clinical expertise, and a deep recognition that seeking mental health support takes real courage. Your initial consultation, typically 60 minutes, offers dedicated time for a comprehensive assessment. I begin by asking about your primary concerns — what's been most distressing, and what prompted you to reach out now. From there, we explore your symptoms in depth: when they began, how long they've persisted, their severity, what triggers them, and how they're affecting your daily functioning. I gather a thorough psychiatric history, including previous diagnoses, treatments you've tried, what worked or didn't, past medications, and any counseling history. We'll also discuss your physical health, current prescriptions, allergies, family mental health patterns, trauma history, and present life stressors. This full picture allows me to identify the most effective path forward for you specifically. No detail is too small — everything you share helps me understand you better. My diagnostic approach combines clinical conversation with validated assessment tools. I may ask you to complete standardized measures for depression, anxiety, or other relevant symptoms — these support diagnostic accuracy and serve as baselines for tracking your progress over time. When exploring treatment options, I emphasize collaboration. If medication appears appropriate, I'll explain why certain options may help, how they work, what realistic improvements look like, possible side effects, and how we'll monitor your response. Follow-up medication management appointments run 20 to 30 minutes, generally monthly once you've stabilized. We'll review symptom changes, assess tolerability, and refine treatment as needed. I encourage honest dialogue — if something isn't working, I need to know so we can address it together. Between visits, my office remains available for urgent concerns, because timely support can make a meaningful difference.

She is excellent listener and explained the problem with solutions and why they are effective
Candice was empathetic and knowledgeable. I am excited to continue treatment with Candice.
Super easy to talk to and down to earth. Very grateful we got connected
Great energy. Easy to talk to. Candice is the best. Highly recommend.
Candice can be supportive/offer kind words, but she also comes off as judgmental regarding requests to explore medication for mental health struggles/diagnoses. She doesn’t always review or consider patient history, and misremembers what was discussed in previous appointments, making medication management and discussion of mental health struggles a humiliating and stressful experience. It doesn’t feel like collaboration. It feels like scrutiny for struggling and wanting to ask about options. Though I do appreciate her methodical approach to slowly introducing new meds and increasing dosages, I did not feel safe sharing my struggles or discussing whether medication was even an appropriate option. I was always made to feel like I was pushing for pills when I was not. It felt like I was receiving judgment for inquiring about medication options — that I was only looking for pills, when from the beginning I expressed desire to hear her thoughts on what’d be helpful for my health/situation.

Candice takes the time to really listen deeply. She is also very well-versed and knowledgeable in her field. I get the impression she is staying very current within her field of work.
Warm, non-judgmental ADHD care. She listens, adds helpful humor, respects my stance on meds, and collaborates on a plan that works for me. I’m very happy and would recommend her to friends.
Candice approaches each visit from an equally empathetic and scientific perspective. She listens to what experiences, thoughts, and concerns I have and strives to proceed with treatment options that align with my needs. I’d recommend her to anyone that is looking to better themselves.
Candace did a great job making me feel comfortable at our first visit. She’s very empathetic and solutions-oriented. I also did not feel rushed, which was a pleasant surprise for telaheath.
She brings a holistic approach to her practice and works for your benefit. I highly recommend her to anyone who desires a commited practitioner. She is great with communication and follow through!
Candice was super nice, so easygoing, and genuinely kind. She really took the time to understand my needs and worked with me on my medication dosage. Highly recommend her ??
Candice was wonderful to talk to and she’s so easygoing and genuinely kind. She really took the time to understand my needs and worked with me on my medication dosage. Highly recommend her ??
Candice was so wonderful to talk to. I felt like she really listened and took the intake form simply as a guide and asked me clarifying questions. To me, the intake form can be misinterpreted and I'm glad we both felt the same way about it. She made me feel at ease and made me feel like tackling life was easy. She wasn't quick to prescribe medication until she gave me a bit of background, asked me how I felt about it, and if I had any questions whatsoever about it. It was yet another aspect that made me feel comfortable.
Candice is amazing, I’m a 100% disabled veteran with PTST who see a therapist and psychologist thru the VA and I wish she was my provider. She is not only compassionate but knowledgeable and supportive and the fact that she and all the team members are easily and readily available is amazing. Thank you so so much!?? I was so terrified to re-start any sort of mental health services and treatment, but Candice made me 1. feel so heard, 2. feel understood, and 3. helped distill down a very actionable plan. By far an amazing experience.
Candice has been nothing short of exemplary in my treatment, and I am both immensely grateful and impressed by the lengths that she will go to support you, both in and out of therapy. I cannot recommend Candice enough as someone who will treat you like a person, rather than your diagnosis, and respect your autonomy as a patient. There are few therapists that will hold themselves to the same moral standard, and I am lucky to have worked with such an empathetic and dedicated provider.
Overall, Candice was receptive to my ideas and contributions to my own self-care. From my perspective, she likely sees a high volume of patients and may have developed certain expectations about how they present. She initially pushed back on my description of living with untreated ADHD as an adult with a postgraduate degree, but ultimately, she listened, considered my perspective, and provided a clear path forward.
Candice was absolutely wonderful. She's warm, compassionate, takes time to listen and understand you and talks to you through the entire session. I can't wait for my next visit!
Candice is great! She’s warm, kind, and really listens. I felt comfortable right away and never rushed. She explained things clearly and made me feel truly cared for. Highly recommend!

I had a very positive experience during my recent visit. Candice took the time to listen to my concerns thoroughly and explained everything clearly. I felt heard, respected, and never rushed. She answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the next steps in my care plan. It’s reassuring to know that there are healthcare professionals who genuinely care and go above and beyond to provide excellent patient care. I highly recommend Candice to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and respectful medical support.
Candice is very caring and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs her service. She is quick to respond and very attentive to her patients.
I’ve really enjoyed meeting with Candice. She gives me hope and I really get the feeling that she’s there for me no matter what. She obviously knows what she’s doing and puts together a game plan to make sure the patient gets better.
Candice is amazing! She is very knowledgeable, understanding, insightful, and gives accurate information on how to best support you. She is by far the best doc I’ve had in years.
Candice has been absolutely amazing. She was able to understand my current state and offer insight and prescribe the best medications to suit my needs. It felt great to finally feel seen and I’m not sure where I would be without her. If you’re looking for a psychiatrists, she’s the best. Consider yourself lucky if you get to be her patient, would be my honest feedback. She is a blessing! Also, the most intelligent and accomplished medical professional I have ever spoken to.
