Careen is a compassionate and empathetic board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 13 years of comprehensive healthcare experience, providing wellness and mental health management for diverse populations. She holds a Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University, a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Bachelor’s degree from Nicholls State University. Skilled at analyzing patient history to build diagnosis, plan treatment, add-on psychotherapy, and manage medication, Careen empowers patients with knowledge to improve their physical and cognitive well-being after each visit.
We believe in a holistic approach to care that treats the whole person, addressing both mental and physical needs. Our services include not only medication but also integrative psychiatry, focusing on nutrition, exercise, stress management, and self-care practices to boost your overall wellness.
What should a new client know about working with you?

--I avail myself with getting to know the client, exert patience, and employ good listening skills, compassion, kindness, and understanding. We provide psychiatric evaluations, counseling, and medication management, health coaching, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Genesight testing with special attention to individual needs in a welcoming, nonjudgmental and safe environment.
Here at Psych health and wellness, we use evidence-based practice, including integrative psychiatry to provide excellent patient care.
We treat ADD and ADHD with non-stimulants and we do not prescribe Benzodiazepines
What is your typical process for working with clients?

--As a provider, my typical process is focused on wellness using these five sequential steps: assessments, diagnosis, outcome, treatment, and evaluation. Seeking mental wellness enhances daily life and adequate self-management. We do not only treat mental health problems but provide a neutral environment for individuals to thrive as they begin their healing process and find selfhood. For new clients, please allow 20-35 minutes to complete the necessary paper work before the start of your session.
We treat ADD and ADHD with non-stimulants and we do not prescribe Benzodiazepines

NP Careen is warm and inviting, with great bed side manner. What stood out to me the most is her ability to listen without interruption and she explained in great what medications would be best for me and my situation. The provider has bad internet connection, dropping the call two times, and a poor understanding of technology. There were multiple times the student practitioners sitting in on my appointment interrupting the psychiatrist in mid conversation, leaving me feel awkward talking about the issues I was seeking help for. I believe a psychiatrist should give their patients their full attention, and if they get easily distracted, they might want to think about taking on student interns.

I really liked Careen! She listened to all of my concerns, really seemed to care and give me wonderful advice. I had made a follow up appointment with her on February 26th for March 11th. I didn't receive the confirmation email until March 8th- which is my mistake I forgot and was traveling. I responded to her message the day of and let her know that I did not remember making that appointment and she cancelled it. I called the line to see if I could rebook & have the fee waived- which she immediately agreed to which was appreciated. However she out of nowhere starts getting very aggressive saying things like " You have no accountability for what you did, I would never just make appointments without confirming" Border line yelling and talking over me and I was shocked/confused the whole time what the issue was. She was disrespectful & I don't want her having my info or ever reaching out again. She actually scared me how she was speaking to me! Maybe it was a bad day for her? But WOW!
