“I arrived 15 minutes early as advised, but found the door locked. I waited 7 minutes until I heard the door unlock. I went inside and the receptionist was applying very strongly scented lotion which triggered the reason for my visit to this allergist. I filled out all of the information then waited 15 more minutes to be taken back. Keep in mind I was the only patient there. The assistant that took me back was even less friendly than the receptionist. The doctor was very nice, listened intently and explained thoroughly ”

Carlos is a Certified Physician Assistant who has practiced in the allergy field since 2003. Since joining the Center for Allergy and Asthma of Georgia in 2012, Carlos has provided exceptional care to patients at our Smyrna/Vinings, Hiram, and Douglasville offices. He assists doctors in various areas involving the treatment of allergies, asthma, and sinus-related issues.
Carlos obtained his Physician Assistant degree from Miami Dade College and his NCCPA board accreditation in 2003. He obtained NCCPA (National Commission on Certification on Physician Assistants) recertification in 2009 and 2014. His clinical rotations and training were completed at Jackson Memorial Hospital, VA Hospital and several community health clinics in Miami.
Prior to becoming a physician assistance, Carlos earned his Bachelor’s degree in nursing and practiced as an Emergency Room registered nurse from 1996 to 2003. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI), Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE), Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA), and the Georgia Academy of Physicians Assistants (CAPA). Carlos speaks English and Spanish.

I spoke with the provider about getting allergens compounded somewhere else, MUCH CHEAPER, than what they charge. ONLY AFTER charging for an allergy test. Which I had one 3 years ago, today I was told no. To get allergens from this provider you have to pay 10x the cost of allergens.

I was expecting to get the allergy test done at the office but instead I was giving a paper with recommended labs to go. However, none of these places were accepted my 10 month old! Even the pediatric office couldn’t assist. This is something the office should have known prior to handing me these because now my baby is going yet another week without us targeting the issue so we can help her skin thrive.

Needed medical paperwork completed for my son's school and Carlos completed right away and Alexis (the nurse or tech that was in room w us, sorry cannot recall) worked with me to make sure rest of paperwork was completed as well--Initially only 1 form was completed b/c that was all that was given to office from my email even though I sent 4, and she worked w/ me so I was able to send it to her work email and paperwork was done that same day, which was a lot faster than the 2 days they quoted. The RX we requested was sent and I was able to pick it up same day w/o issues. And also the serum RN noticed that we usually get shots in another office and called to confirm location where serum needs to be sent. Really appreciated all things they did to get everything completed. We usually go to this office for appts and wait time is relatively minimal and usually get everything we need taken care of in timely manner. All staff in that office always helpful.

I'm awaiting allergy lab tests results and a follow-up appointment, and will soon know more about a course of treatment. The doctor gave me options for testing and possible treatment, but I felt that he was already indicating immunotherapy, which I will be wary of at my age and since shots were not successful in the past. I want to decide my own course of treatment based on the test results and his advice

The physician was extremely friendly and put me at ease. He listened to me and explained medications at great length and in a way that was easily understood by a person without an M.D. The intake nurse was also so kind and seemed as though she legitimately loves her job and cares about each and every patient. Plus she laughed at my dumb jokes. :-)

I ended up having to come out of pocket for a couple of tests I completed during my visit without any disclaimer on the possibility that they may not be covered by my insurance, so that was frustrating. When I went, it was before Covid blew up, and now after everything, it is clear my symptoms for example shortness of breath, bad coughs etc... was correlated to the virus, as I did experience the full blow of the sickness later that month - BUT during the visit, as I attempted to explain my reason for scheduling the appointment, I felt as though his responses were very condescending and made me feel as my symptoms were not valid. So I wouldn't say I enjoyed my visit or will I recommend.

There were able to have me seen right away after multiple overnight asthma attacks. Immediately put me on a steroid (samples to boot!) until the antihistamines we’re out my system to come back for an allergy skin test to see what is triggering the attacks :)

Actually my daughter was seen by Dr. Patel. He was Awesome! He was very knowledgeable and prescribed my daughter some new medications to better manage her asthma and allergies. The new office is bigger and nicer. The staff was courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend this office to others! We were in and out probably within 30 minutes total. Thumbs Up!
