With a focus on progressive and current evidence-based pharmaceutical therapies for behavioral health offerings, Carmen will teach you about the medications that meet your specific needs. How? She focuses on medication options that fit your needs while considering those that limit side effects, and limit polypharmacy, all while focusing on pharmaceutical options that are fiscally obtainable!
Carmen additionally offers remote-based neurocognitive testing. This testing obtains your personalized subjective and objective measurements so that together, a plan of care can be formulated focusing on your personalized cognitive challenges specifically for your brain. Think about it, primary care providers obtain your objective measurements with lab work and vitals. In psychiatry, there is additionally a way to obtain your objective measurements -- via neurocognitive testing!
How did Carmen learn to focus on these needs to best help you? Her collegiate foundation was first built with a degree in Nuclear Medicine, the in-depth study of functional and molecular-focused physiological processes associated with injury or disease, in 1991. She later returned to college earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, in 1995, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing, in 1998, from the highly acclaimed Case Western Reserve University.
?Carmen has a solid base in primary care insights after earning her first post-graduate Nurse Practitioner Certification as a Nurse Midwife from Frontier University.
Nearly 20 years later, Carmen continued her thirst for knowledge with her second post-graduate Nurse Practitioner Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Cincinnati, in 2016.

Absolutely horrible experience. I was not contacted before my appointment besides the automatic Zocdoc one. When my appointment never started i called the office, and the very unhelpful lady on the phone told me that despite the app saying my insurance was accepted that it wasnt! My appointment was canceled without my knowledge. I see that in other reviews it wasnt just me. I recommend staying far away. This was my first attempt in years to find a therapist and this experience makes me not want to. Insanely unprofessional.

Carmen is seriously the best! She takes me serious and is always able to get to the root of the issue without adding on unnecessary medications. She was able to help so much with my ADHD, like I don’t know where I would be had she not stepped in when she did. I have been in recovery for almost 6 years and she did let me past weigh me down but used it to make authentic choices that fit me best. I wouldn’t go back or have anyone go here. They did not verify my insurance before hand and canceled my appointment at the time of my appointment. This was very frustrating and unprofessional especially because I needed that appointment since I was going through a mental crisis at the time

I had an appointment all scheduled, all documents uploaded, received all the confirmation emails, but I was never contacted by anyone for my appointment today. I called the head office 10 minutes after I was supposed to receive information to enter a call to see Carmen (8 was the meeting, 8:10 when I called). I was able to speak to the front desk person working, but he said my information hadn’t even been looked at or processed (I didn’t get much of an answer) and there wasn’t an actual meeting (?) and that he’d call me at some point in the future. No follow up email, no other communication. I’m pretty disappointed I wasted my time, and I worry about finding a new psychiatrist and going through another waiting period or sticking it out with the folks here especially since I hardly got any information by calling.

Very excited to work with her! It’s been a long road of questions going unanswered. I know a diagnosis doesn’t make your life just better instantly but it does give me the answers I need to find a solution. I am very impressed with her education with medications and potential diagnosis. She explained what each step was going to be and what I needed to do next. I haven't personally gone as far as to Google search 'Best Psychiatrist in the United States' yet, but I would be willing to bet the abundance of excellent care, attention, and knowledge I've personally received from Carmen Kosicek, her assistant Amy, and the Mindful Group, that you'll see Carmen's name if you ask Dr. Google who's best to meet your psychiatric needs.
This is all to say: you are in the right place if you're reading this, and should you pursue a client/practitioner relationship with Carmen Kosicek, you will likely receive the following:
1) prompt attention to ALL your inquiries and messages (usually within the same hour), including email, TEXT, and paper correspondence.
2) A pharmacy (Genoa, in rural Oregon) that ACTUALLY makes one's life easier, not harder. My scripts come to my home via USPS, and I have a separate arrangement with my post office that makes it so that I don't have to DO ANYTHING, like sign, or be home to accept.
3) A truly kind human professional.

After days of looking for psychiatric support, I am SO lucky to have found Carmen Kosicek.
I am a professional, successful woman in her late 40's.
I have always excelled in high-stress environments. But, the cost of my success was that I had increasing levels of anxiety, depression and alcohol use.
I could find psychiatrists that hit some, but not all 4, except Carmen.
Carmen was the one, unique professional who spoke to all 4. (In addition to a wide range of other areas of expertise!)
From the first moment we spoke, she was warm, gentle and supportive and NOT judgemental at all.
On medications, she dives deep to assess/analyze what medication(s) might be the most effective (and safest) for your unique situation.
If you are hitting a point where your mental health requires more help than what you can handle on your own, Carmen Kosicek is a rare gem that blends expertise and compassion.
I am so grateful to have found her! I hope you can too, she is one in a billion.

My experience with this provider was average. I felt like she was not a very good listener during our appointments as we met several times and she would forget what we had discussed previously. Provider speaks slowly during appointments and so it appears she is wanting to make the session longer then it needs to be. Furthermore, the provider sort of advertises a few “newer” medications that are not covered by most insurances, and are on the more expensive side. I was informed by the pharmacy that this provider in fact prescribes those exact medications very frequently. The practice pushes for a lot of appointments and the content is very repetitive and overall unnecessary. The provider uses a specialty pharmacy for all of the prescriptions, which I did not like as it comes off very “salesy.” Overall this experience with the provider and her practice gave me a bad feeling. The practice does not appear to be patient centered, but moreso sales and revenue driven.

I was late logging in because I had technical difficulties. Carmen, didn't make me feel bad about it. She was positive throughout the visit and I felt like I had known her for years. I've never been able to open up to someone I just met, but she made me feel safe and like it was ok.

I had a great first session with Carmen. She listened and asked many questions to get to know me and understand my medical history. She was extremely well-informed about the science behind my medication and even showed me clinical trial data. We defined a clear plan for checking in with her again in a few months.
The only downside was that getting all my information to the clinic was a bit confusing. I was contacted several times by both the clinic and another office that they work with and had to fill out several forms in duplicate.
