Getting to know Cathleen Barrett
I am accepting new clients for medication management services. I am double board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Certified Addiction Registered Nurse Advanced Practice (CARN-AP). I have more than 22 years of experience in mental health, including over sixteen years working as a PMHNP after completing my Master's in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at Husson University in Maine in 2007.
To be truly effective, it is important as a provider to listen carefully to what clients share about their experiences with mental health and medical struggles. Although all treatment must be evidence-based, I strongly believe in offering different options whenever possible for clients to choose from on their path back to wellness. Every person is an individual, and every treatment plan should reflect this as well.
I have practiced in many different settings over the years, including both inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities. My prior experiences have equipped me well to work with clients struggling with a wide range of mental health conditions, including PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and many more.
