CCI has a Toshiba Asteion Multislice CT Scanner coupled with a Vitrea Computer 3-D Reconstruction Workstation. This 4 Slice multi-slice unit has exactly the same CT detector technology as Toshiba’s 16 slice, 32 slice, and 64 slice units, meaning the image quality is identical to these scanners with scan times only slightly longer. Multi-slice technology also allows for larger areas of the body to be scanned in less time and with greater detail. The Vitrea workstation adds the capability to perform 3-D reconstructions from normal CT scans. These reconstructions can show anatomy in amazing detail, and allow the radiologist to “strip away” unwanted anatomical structures and artifacts so he can view the area of interest unobstructed.
