Channel Johnson is a highly dedicated and board-certified nurse practitioner with an extensive and accomplished background. She initially obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Studies from The University of Tulsa, where she graduated in 2010. Motivated by her own personal experiences with mental health challenges, she pursued a Post-Master's Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from Maryville University in 2022, once again graduating summa cum laude.
Channel is dedicated to serving individuals aged 8 to 65, offering a wide range of mental health services, including medication management and other effective treatment modalities. Her approach is both holistic and evidence-based, ensuring that each treatment plan is personalized to meet the unique needs of every client.
She is passionate about providing hope and healing to her patients. Her approach is inspired by the victory, grace, and healing provided by Jesus Christ, and she is committed to delivering compassionate and respectful care to all individuals, regardless of their culture, race, ethnicity, or faith. Through compassionate care, everyone is welcome to receive the support and guidance they need on their journey to mental wellness.
Channel specializes in many mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia, bereavement/grief, sleep disorders, patients experiencing homelessness, and LGBTQ issues.

I am a good listener. I believe that all individuals are unique and I consider that when focusing on client needs.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
In an initial consultation where you'll discuss your concerns and symptoms. During this process the patient and the provider will connect and establish a relationship focusing on the patient needs. You'll likely undergo a mental health screening, during this process questions are geared toward physical, genetic, developmental, emotional, cognitive, and social components.
During your sessions, the provider will observe your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to gather more information and better understand your situation. Based on the evaluation, they will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. The DSM-5, a guide used by mental health professionals, aids in diagnosing and classifying mental health conditions with detailed descriptions of symptoms and criteria for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
