What should a new client know about working with you?

I bring more than 35 years of psychiatric experience to every patient I see, but I never let that experience replace listening. Every new patient deserves a fresh evaluation, not assumptions based on a chart or a referral note. My style is thorough, direct, and grounded in evidence. I will take the time to understand your full history before drawing any conclusions, and I will always explain my clinical thinking in plain language so you can make informed decisions about your care. A few things to know before your first visit: • Expect a detailed first appointment — I ask a lot of questions because the details matter • I treat the full picture: psychiatric symptoms, medical history, family history, and life context all inform how I approach your care • I specialize in complex and treatment-resistant cases, if you've seen other providers without success, that's exactly the kind of challenge I take seriously • I work as part of K&I's integrated team, so your psychiatric care will be coordinated with your therapist and support staff Quality psychiatric care takes time and trust. I'm committed to both.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

New patients begin with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, typically 60 minutes. During this visit, I conduct a thorough diagnostic interview covering your presenting concerns, full psychiatric and medical history, current and past medications, family psychiatric history, and personal goals for treatment. For complex presentations, I take a differential diagnosis approach — systematically ruling in and ruling out conditions before settling on a working diagnosis. I do not rush to label or medicate before the full picture is clear. Following the evaluation, I develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, psychotherapy referral within K&I's clinical team, community support services, or a combination. I explain every recommendation and the reasoning behind it. Follow-up appointments are focused and structured, typically 20–30 minutes, and are used to monitor treatment response, adjust medications as needed, and track progress toward your goals. I maintain close communication with K&I's therapists and support staff to ensure your care remains coordinated throughout. My approach is methodical, evidence-based, and patient-centered. Decades of experience have taught me that the best outcomes come from getting the diagnosis right first.
