There he realized that he could help more people by becoming a nurse practitioner; specifically, a nurse practitioner specializing in psychiatric/mental health care. Chris obtained his Master of Science in Nursing degree from the highly acclaimed Drexel University and graduated as a PMHNP with honors. His credentials include Certified Master’s Addiction Professional. His education has been specifically targeted for Mental Health, Addictions and Psychiatry. As a nurse Chris has developed a solid base in cardiac and medical insights and how such deficiencies can affect your Mental Health. Chris also draws from a multitude of Life experiences. If u want to talk to a Dr. that will explain things to you in a way that you can understand everything Dr. Charles is the one you will want to go see. He explained more to me than any other Dr ever did before over the years.
He is so easy to talk to and he has a good sense of humor which helps put you at ease when talking to him.

Chris is very easy to communicate with and gets right to the point without being too touchy-feely. I really appreciate just getting the basic thoughts, feelings and actions out to him and he processed really quickly with a lot of insight. In the 20 years of mental health specialists I've seen, no one has ever offered some alternate ideas and courses to follow like he did on our first visit. I'm really happy to take his assements and meet again next week. He's also referred me to a med Dr. in their network so it's wonderful to have someone interested in my wrap-around care.

I initially scheduled an appointment with a female doctor, as I tend to be more comfortable with them, but the person I initially scheduled an appointment with did not have availability. The office called me and asked if I was open to switching to Charles Kohnken as he had availability and I agreed, but was a little nervous. I was immediately put at ease in our first meeting. He is so down to earth and made me feel so comfortable. He listens really well and does not dismiss any feeling I have. He is extremely validating. I had some suspicions that I may have had certain issues, and he never dismissed those suspicions. He made sure he evaluated me and tested me before any diagnoses, and I am truly grateful for that. I feared being dismissed and told that my issues are "normal" for someone my age or for a woman since this has been a constant thing with doctors. I had nothing to fear! I highly recommend him to anyone. He is also very responsive and fills prescriptions right away.

Made a same day appointment and no information was sent for virtual setup/login. I called the office and was told that they hadn’t yet gotten to my insurance verification and so I would not have an appointment today. But, I would know if my insurance was accepted in 2-3 days. What?!? No call stating this prior to the appointment time and a very nonchalant attitude about it. Hard to tell if this is a Zocdoc or Clinic issue, but definitely won’t be seeing this provider.
