What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients can expect a supportive, thoughtful, and nonjudgmental experience with Cherie. She values honest communication and recognizes that mental health care is not one-size-fits-all. Your concerns, lived experiences, preferences, and treatment goals are important parts of the care process. Cherie’s style is collaborative and practical. She listens carefully, asks meaningful questions, and works with you to identify approaches that feel realistic and appropriate for your life. Treatment may include medication management, education about symptoms and diagnoses, coping strategies, goal-setting, and referrals for therapy or other supportive services when appropriate. Medication is considered one possible treatment tool rather than the only solution. When medication is recommended, Cherie will explain its purpose, potential benefits, possible side effects, and how progress will be monitored. Treatment plans can be adjusted over time based on your experience, response, and changing needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first appointment typically includes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Cherie will talk with you about your current concerns, symptoms, mental health history, medical history, previous treatments, medications, sleep, stressors, substance use, and goals for care. She will also review safety concerns and factors that may affect treatment recommendations. Following the evaluation, you will work together to create an individualized treatment plan. Depending on your needs, this may include medication management, education, symptom monitoring, coping strategies, and referrals for psychotherapy or additional resources. If medication is started or changed, Cherie will review why it is being considered, what to expect, potential side effects, and the follow-up plan. Follow-up visits focus on progress toward your goals, medication response and tolerability, daily functioning, and any new concerns. Care is adjusted collaboratively as needed to support meaningful, long-term improvement.
