Chet Hughes, RN, APRN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NY
Hi, I’m Chet — a psychiatric nurse practitioner with nearly 15 years of experience in mental health and nursing. If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, unfocused, emotionally drained, or unsure where to start, you don’t have to navigate it alone. My name is Chet Hughes, and I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner offering compassionate, personalized virtual care for adolescents and adults, with convenient weekday evening and weekend appointments to make getting support easier. I provide thoughtful psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, mood changes, trauma-related symptoms, stress, sleep difficulties, life transitions, and school or work-related challenges. My style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I take time to listen, understand your goals, and create a treatment plan that feels clear, realistic, and tailored to you. Whether you’re seeking mental health care for the first time or looking for a new provider who takes a careful and supportive approach, my goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and more in control of your mental health. When medication is part of care, I focus on safe, thoughtful, evidence-based prescribing. Controlled medications may be considered when clinically appropriate, with careful attention to your needs, safety, and long-term wellness. My practice is best suited for patients seeking ongoing psychiatric care rather than substance use treatment. I currently provide virtual appointments for patients who are physically located in New York State at the time of their visit. I accept UnitedHealthcare, UMR, Oxford, Fidelis, Healthfirst, Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, Northwell, Blue Cross Blue Shield, 1199 SEIU, and NYCEPPO. I also work with Carelon members to help make sure they can access the care they need.
