What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate, respectful, and judgment-free approach to mental health care. I take the time to understand you as a whole person—not just your symptoms or diagnosis. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your care. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered. I believe treatment works best when we work together to identify your goals, discuss your concerns, and develop a treatment plan that fits your individual needs, lifestyle, and preferences. I use evidence-based practices and may incorporate supportive therapy, psychoeducation, coping strategies, and behavioral techniques alongside medication management when appropriate. During your visit, I will ask questions about your symptoms, mental health history, medications, daily functioning, and current stressors. We will discuss treatment options, including the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives, so you can make informed decisions about your care. I encourage open communication and welcome questions. You do not need to have everything figured out before your appointment. We can take things one step at a time and work together toward helping you feel better and function at your best.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach begins with getting to know you and understanding what brings you to treatment. During the initial evaluation, I will ask about your current symptoms, mental health history, medical history, medications, sleep, lifestyle, and any personal or environmental factors that may be affecting your well-being. I use a comprehensive, individualized assessment to develop an understanding of your concerns and, when appropriate, establish a diagnosis. We will discuss your symptoms, treatment goals, and available options together. If medication is recommended, I will explain how it works, potential benefits and side effects, and what we should monitor over time. Follow-up appointments focus on how you have been feeling since our last visit, your response to treatment, any side effects or concerns, and changes in your daily functioning. We will adjust your treatment plan as needed based on your progress and preferences. In addition to psychiatric evaluation and medication management, I provide supportive therapy as part of treatment when appropriate. Supportive therapy may include active listening, emotional support, psychoeducation, coping strategies, problem-solving, and helping you navigate current stressors and challenges. I tailor the therapeutic approach to your individual needs and goals. My goal is to provide a collaborative, compassionate, and practical treatment experience where you feel heard, respected, and involved in your care. Each appointment is an opportunity to assess your progress, address your concerns, and work together toward improved mental health and overall well-being.
