“After deciding to take full advantage of my benefits for the first time, I was very comfortable being open and I felt heard; which was essential for me, especially while finding a starting point and feeling unsure. The feedback I received also felt tailored to me rather than general one size fits all so that was reassuring as well.”

Getting to know Chiji Jon-Ubabuco

~~Important Update for Texas Patients~~ Starting October 1, 2025, if you are prescribed Schedule II–V medications, you’ll need to have an in-person visit with your provider at least once every 12 months. If you wish to consider continuation of controlled medications from a previous provider, your first visit with us MUST BE IN PERSON. **IF YOU HAVE MEDICAID, WE CANNOT SEE YOU** We are NOT in-network with Medicaid or Medicare.*** Chiji earned his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin and completed a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from Maryville University. Throughout his professional career, he has been dedicated to the behavioral health field, starting as a Behavioral Health Technician and advancing to roles as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Chiji has experience in both inpatient psychiatric hospital settings and outpatient clinics, treating adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds. His practice emphasizes a holistic approach, considering the psychosocial aspects of an individual’s life beyond their diagnosis. In his free time, Chiji enjoys staying active, whether by exercising at the gym or riding an elliptical bike at home while catching up on TV shows or sports. He also values family time, often gathering with relatives who live locally in the DFW area.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to create a supportive and collaborative environment where you feel heard and respected. My approach to care is holistic, focusing not just on the diagnosis but also on the unique psychosocial factors that shape your experiences. I believe in working together to develop personalized treatment plans that empower you to achieve your mental health goals. With experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, I am comfortable treating individuals from diverse backgrounds, including adults and adolescents. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, valued, and confident in your care every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with getting to know you as an individual, not just your symptoms. During our initial sessions, I take the time to understand your concerns, medical history, lifestyle, and goals. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, which may include medication management, psychoeducation, and a focus on holistic care. I prioritize open communication and collaboration, ensuring that you feel informed and empowered throughout your journey. Regular follow-ups are an integral part of the process, allowing us to assess progress, address any challenges, and make adjustments as needed to optimize your care. My goal is to help you achieve meaningful, sustainable improvements in your mental health and overall well-being.

Maybe if someone tells you that they are there for meditation you don’t let them talk to you for an hour before saying you can’t prescribe something
