Dr. Chika Okafor, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a distinguished Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner, bringing over 25 years of invaluable experience in the field of psychiatry. Her expertise extends to the comprehensive treatment of various psychiatric disorders, specializing in children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Okafor is particularly well-versed in addressing conditions such as ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Psychosis, PTSD, and Insomnia.
Her journey in psychiatric care began in 1998 when she completed her bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Early in her career, she served as a psychiatric staff nurse in a local in-patient psychiatric hospital, laying the foundation for her extensive clinical experience. In 2007, she achieved her Master of Science in Nursing from the same university and subsequently earned her board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Dr. Okafor’s commitment to advancing her knowledge and skills is evident in her completion of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2019. Her academic contributions include serving as an adjunct professor for several years. Presently,she continues to inspire and educate future psychiatric nursing professionals as an adjunct Professor for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.
In her role as Chief Nurse Executive at a local psychiatric hospital, Dr. Okafor demonstrates exemplary leadership by overseeing administrative departments and ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. Her responsibilities also extend to acting as a liaison between nurses and administrators, fostering a collaborative and effective healthcare environment.
