Getting to know Dr. Chinazo Obi

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for adults. I specialize in psychiatric evaluation and medication management for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, mood changes, sleep concerns, psychotic disorders, and other mental health conditions. My approach to care is warm, collaborative, and patient-centered. I take time to understand each patient’s symptoms, treatment history, life experiences, and goals so that care is not based on a diagnosis alone. I believe patients should feel heard, respected, and fully involved in decisions about their treatment. I focus on clear communication and practical, personalized treatment plans that fit each patient’s individual needs and daily life. Whether you are seeking psychiatric care for the first time, restarting treatment, or looking for a provider who will take the time to listen, my goal is to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where we can work together toward improved stability, functioning, and quality of life. Language spoken: English

What should a new client know about working with you?

I value honesty, collaboration, and open communication. I want you to feel comfortable sharing what you are experiencing, asking questions, and speaking up about what is or is not working for you. I take a thoughtful approach to treatment and do not believe in a one-size-fits-all plan. We will work together to understand your symptoms, discuss your options, and develop a treatment plan that is realistic, evidence-based, and tailored to your needs. My goal is to create a respectful, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported while we work toward greater stability, improved functioning, and a better quality of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where we discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, past treatments, medications, and what you hope to improve. I take time to understand how your symptoms are affecting your daily life so we can look at the full picture. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan together. If medication is appropriate, I explain the options, expected benefits, possible side effects, and alternatives so you can make informed decisions about your care. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring your progress, reviewing how you are responding to treatment, addressing any concerns, and making adjustments when needed. My goal is to provide consistent, collaborative care that evolves with your needs over time.
