About Dr. Chinyere Ofurum-Ononiwu

I consider myself lucky to work in healthcare and strongly believe that substance abuse has taken a backseat in American culture. We have to accept that substance abuse has become part of our cultural lives, and it must be met with openness and understanding. Healthcare providers should work harder than ever to foster a safe environment for all patients suffering from this disease. I plan to use my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Grand Canyon University not only to care for patients with substance abuse but also to share best practices with empathy and understanding across the healthcare industry. As a family nurse practitioner specializing in substance abuse treatment, with a Master's in Family Nursing and a Bachelor's degree from Chamberlain University, it is my goal to advocate for patients who struggle with this disease. I aim to manage their treatment with compassion, understanding, and holistic care. My ultimate professional goal is to work with substance abuse and mental health patients in all communities and to raise awareness about the challenges posed by inadequate resources in these communities.
