What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I take a holistic, individualized approach to mental healthcare. I understand that each person’s journey is unique, and I work collaboratively with my patients to ensure their treatment plans reflect their personal experiences, strengths, and challenges. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, taking into account biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors that may influence mental health. In my practice, I emphasize the importance of creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where my patients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions. I partner with my patients to explore their needs and goals, making shared decisions about treatment options that might include medication management, therapy, or lifestyle adjustments. I am committed to empowering individuals through education, helping them to better understand their mental health and take an active role in their care. When you work with me, you’ll find a space where your voice is heard, and your experiences are valued. My goal is to create a calming and supportive environment where you feel safe to express your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Together, we will explore your mental health needs, set goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan. I believe in collaboration and will work closely with you to find the best strategies to support your well-being, whether through medication management, psychotherapy, or lifestyle adjustments. Patients describe working with me as a compassionate, empowering experience. I aim to make each session feel like a partnership, where you can talk openly about your challenges and progress at your own pace. My approach is warm and non-intimidating, combining clinical expertise with a deep understanding of the human experience. I respect the courage it takes to seek help and want you to feel comfortable and confident in your journey toward mental wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I believe in a collaborative, patient-centered approach to goal setting, ensuring that each patient’s unique values, challenges, and aspirations are at the forefront of their care plan. I work closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plan that are realistic and aligned with their personal vision for mental wellness. I take a holistic view of health, incorporating physical, emotional, and social factors into goal setting. This includes addressing lifestyle elements like sleep, nutrition, and exercise, as well as considering barriers to success. Through evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, I guide patients in overcoming obstacles and modifying goals as needed to ensure continual growth and improvement. With a focus on empowerment, I ensure that each patient is actively involved in their treatment, allowing for regular review and adjustments to their goals. My aim is to support patients not just in symptom management, but in building the skills and confidence needed to enhance their overall quality of life.

Didnt show up. Unreal. Was on the video call for a hour. Nothing. What if something was severly wrong. Thought no showing was insane to be honest. Internet connection isnt an excuse. Or atleast I should have been notified prior to setting that hour of my day aside.

After confirming with Zocdoc that everything was set for my appointment, I later discovered an email from them in my spam folder stating that I needed to fill out an intake form. About 30 minutes before my scheduled visit, I received an email from Google notifying me that my appointment had been canceled. I had already taken the afternoon off from my part-time job for this visit, so I immediately called the office. Instead of being understanding or checking if I could still be seen, the person on the phone simply told me that intake forms needed to be completed beforehand and offered to reschedule. I completely understand the importance of intake forms and being prepared, but medical offices should be more organized and ensure patients receive critical information in a way that actually reaches them—rather than relying on a single email that can end up in spam. A simple confirmation call or text after booking would have made all the difference in this situation.

Concise, kind, and patient.
I filled out all the forms with all the data that was needed. The provider either had no access to or no awareness of the forms. She argued with me about my prescriptions, insinuated that I was lying and asked me to “show” her my prescription bottle. She finally realized she was inputting the information in wrong and, without an apology, just kept going. She answered her cell phone multiple times during our intake call. It’s now been over 4 hours and my prescription STILL has not been sent to the pharmacy. Zero stars.
