Getting to know Christianah Adelakun

Christianah Adelakun is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over ten years of experience in primary care and psychiatric mental health. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University and provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients aged 16 and older. Her approach is holistic and collaborative—focusing on the whole person rather than just symptoms. Christianah works closely with patients to identify underlying causes of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other emotional challenges, using therapy, lifestyle strategies, and medication only when truly needed. She believes that progress begins when patients feel heard, supported, and empowered to take an active role in their care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe in treating the whole person—not just the symptoms—by understanding how your thoughts, emotions, environment, and physical health all work together. During our sessions, I focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly about your experiences and goals. We’ll work together to identify practical strategies that support your emotional wellness, improve focus, and strengthen coping skills. Medication is considered only when it is truly needed and likely to be beneficial. If a prescription is recommended, I take time to explain the purpose, expected effects, and possible side effects so that you feel informed and involved in every decision. My goal is to help you feel balanced, understood, and empowered in your mental health journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first appointment, I take time to get to know you as a whole person—your medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and what brought you in for care. The initial session is a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation that helps identify biological, psychological, and social factors affecting your mental health. Together, we’ll create an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, therapy, lifestyle recommendations, or a combination of these approaches. I believe in a holistic, patient-centered model of care—one that values collaboration, education, and shared decision-making. Follow-up visits are used to monitor your progress, adjust medications when needed, and continue therapeutic work focused on improving focus, mood, and coping skills. Each session provides a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly, learn practical tools for managing symptoms, and work toward greater emotional and physical well-being
