Afterwards, she enrolled in Adler University- Chicago’s APA-accredited clinical psychology doctoral program, with an emphasis on child and adolescent studies. While completing her doctorate program, Dr. Fazio received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Adler University 2016. She graduated from Adler University with her Doctor of Clinical Psychology in 2020. Dr. Fazio completed her assessment practicum in a psychiatric hospital with inpatient children and youth, and completed her therapy practicum in a school setting with students from grades k-12. Her advanced practicum training was completed at a Child Advocacy Center, where she received extensive training on the prevention and treatment of childhood sexual abuse. During Dr. Fazio’s APA accredited pre-doctoral internship with Monterey County Children’s Behavior Health, she conducted psychological assessments and therapy with children and families involved in California’s child welfare and foster care system. During a concurrent rotation, she also conducted therapy with transition aged youth (16-25) with moderate to severe mental illness. Dr. Fazio is particularly passionate about working with children, youth, and families that have been impacted by chronic stressors, such as bullying, complex trauma, changes in family systems, and the pandemic. In the therapeutic space, Dr. Fazio tends to gravitate toward contextual and integrative approaches that enable children and youth to discover their hidden strengths, gain mastery over their experience, and develop a cohesive identity that empowers them to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. Dr. Fazio also has a deep appreciation for facilitating family system interventions that utilize psychoeducation, caregiver coaching, and play to strengthen attachments, enhance communication, and increase the family’s capacity to cope with everyday stressors.
