Getting to know Christina Kvistad Carlson

**CHRISTINA IS LICENSED IN CT, NY, MA, AND NJ** **We are NOT in network with any Medicaid Plan.** **CHRISTINA DOES NOT DO WEEKLY PSYCHOTHERAPY** Christina Carlson is a Yale School of Medicine trained Physician Assistant. She graduated in May of 2020 with a Master of Medical Science degree and started her career working in psychiatry. She completed a Doctor of Medical Science degree at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions focused in psychiatry in December of 2025. In addition to her expertise in medication management, she is proficient in congnitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. She extensively studied ADHD and continuous performance testing. Christina is consistently available to help her patients in times of need and is experienced in maintaining patient stability and prescribing the most fitting therapeutics tailored to the individual. She sees a wide range of psychiatric conditions with a special interest in mood disorders and ADHD. She enjoys getting to know her patients and precepting students. Outside of work she is an outdoors enthusiast, spending her free time either skiing, sailing, windsurfing, running and more!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Christina works with each patient individually to develop the best treatment plan for them. Christina is skilled in medication management and bringing patients back to stability quickly. She works together with her patients to reach a mutual decision about the best possible treatment option.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the initial visit, patients have the chance to express themselves and their concerns. The appointment will be open-ended at first, allowing patients to share all that they would like. Then, Christina goes through DSM-V criteria to determine a diagnosis. Next, there will be questions about overall psychiatric and medical history. Christina also takes time to get to know her patients throughout their visits and wishes to establish a therapeutic patient-clinician connection.
