About Dr. Christopher Barnard
Dr. Christopher Barnard recently relocated full-time to La Jolla and the greater San Diego area from the Monterey Peninsula, where he maintained a premier private practice in Dermatology, Cosmetic Dermatology, and Mohs Micrographic Surgery for 26 years. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University and completed his Residency in Dermatology at Stanford University. He actively holds an academic appointment as an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology, where he has taught residents dermatologic surgery since 1994.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Barnard is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Mohs Surgery. He previously served as a Board Member of the California Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, representing the Medical Board of California on legislative and regulatory issues impacting dermatology and the private practice of medicine. He also served as President and Secretary-Treasurer of the San Francisco Dermatological Society.
Dr. Barnard remains active in research and development for dermatology. He maintains a passion for medical informatics, non-invasive imaging of the skin, and teledermatology. He was the pioneer medical director of the Stanford Telemedicine Program and later served as Chief Executive Officer of Connections 365, Inc., a private teledermatology provider serving underserved communities in California. His current focus is on cutaneous imaging methods for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers.
