Christopher Cox is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health NP who provides outpatient psychiatric care for adults seeking support with concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress, sleep concerns, and other mental health conditions.
My approach is compassionate, thoughtful, and evidence based. I take time to understand each patient’s symptoms, treatment history, prior medications, medical background, and goals before making recommendations. I believe psychiatric care works best when patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in the treatment plan.
At Altheda, psychiatric care is not rushed or transactional. New patient evaluations are designed to allow time for a careful assessment, and follow up visits focus on monitoring progress, medication response, side effects, and treatment adjustments when needed. My goal is to provide steady, personalized care that supports symptom relief, stability, and long term improvement.
What should a new client know about working with you?
*** Initial evaluations are 60 minutes, and follow ups are 30 minutes to support careful, safe, and personalized care.***
Altheda’s psychiatric care is built on careful evaluation, safe prescribing, and reliable follow through, not rushed medication-only visits.
When we first meet, I will take time to understand what brought you in, what you have experienced, what treatments you have tried before, and what you hope to improve. My goal is to work with you on a treatment plan that is realistic, safe, and tailored to your needs.
Medication recommendations are made after a full clinical evaluation and are based on clinical judgment, safety, and appropriateness. Specific medications, including controlled substances, are not guaranteed and may require prior records or additional review when appropriate.
Because appointment times are reserved specifically for each patient, we ask that patients keep their appointments or provide at least 24 hours’ notice when they need to cancel or reschedule. Repeated missed appointments or repeated late cancellations may result in restrictions on future scheduling.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
During our first visit, I focus on getting to know you and understanding your concerns in context. We will review your symptoms, mental health history, medical background, prior treatment, medications, lifestyle factors, and goals for care.
From there, we will discuss treatment options together. When medication is appropriate, I will explain the reasoning, potential benefits, possible side effects, and what we will monitor over time. I want patients to feel informed and comfortable with the plan we create.
Follow up visits are used to track progress, review how treatment is working, address concerns, and make adjustments when needed. My goal is to provide supportive, respectful psychiatric care that helps patients feel more stable, more confident, and better equipped to move forward.

After explaining my situation and what seems to work for me after trying several meds, including control meds, I feel like he heard what I said, yet I feel like he didn't really listen to the problem. I need to solve the problem ASAP yet the meds he recommended is suppose to work within one and a half month. He just didn't work for me.

Dr Christopher is absolutely amazing!
! I have also seen doctor dane but I had seen Dr Chris once before and I decided to continue visiting with Him because the experience was so wonderful.
He has been incredibly helpful and He is VERY very kind. Please do not hesitate getting the care that you need. My only regret was not trying this AMAZING app sooner!!! For comparison before using zocdoc (& finding Dr Christopher Cox), I had so many issues with scheduling and med refills which was nerve wracking. SO, THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR PATIENTS & for TRULY hearing our voices.
There is a sense of mutual respect with Dr. Cox and that calms my anxiety alot. I feel like I am healing, finally. Most importantly, I feel SAFE knowing I am in good hands, & at peace knowing that access to my meds isn't a problem.
Ps for the one question The office just reached out to remind me of appt which is very helpful as I have 2 small kiddos and can be very forgetful. Thanks! Amazing team!!!!

I books this appointment with this provider through Zocdoc. My insurance is clearly uploaded and shown. I then chose my provider based on the information on the app
showing who accepts my insurance. After my appointment and I was prescribed my medication. I then arrived at my pharmacy to pick up the medication and I was sadly informed my provider is not enrolled with my instances and I will not be able to receive my medication. It was a complete inconvenience and showed a lack of care to ensure me and the patient wasn’t having a full consultation and it’s for no reason.

The set up for an appointment is a little stressful.. I’m at work and the one person will call my cell every 3 minutes for 30 minutes straight! This was to get my co pay— or they can’t send me the link for my appointment. I think you can do better with that exoerience.
