Christopher Easton, APRN, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
WV
Not currently prescribing controlled substances (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse, Focalin, Concerta, Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, Valium). ACCEPTED INSURANCES: Cigna, Aetna, BCBS of Massachusetts, Horizon BCBS of New Jersey. I cannot take clients with Medicaid. SELF-PAY: $150 for new patient (1 hour), $75 follow-up (30 min). Accepting new patients in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and North Dakota. I hold a Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Ohio University and specialize in mental health medication management. You probably have some of your own goals already: you want to enjoy life again; want to feel like yourself again; want to feel in control of your life again; want getting out of bed to be less of a chore. If you're not sure what your goals are, we can work on them together. I think it's important to recognize that medications are not magic and have their limitations, and that there is no one-size-fits-all. However, sometimes medication can help you get your foot through the door to mental wellness and back on your feet. I am realistic but hopeful; a good listener; and bring a dark but gentle sense of humor to sometimes tough topics (when appropriate!). What I hope to deliver on no matter what is a sense that you are heard, are in control of your own care, and have someone on your team who is looking out for your best interests and safety.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take an interpersonal and trauma-informed approach to care. That being said, my experience is in managing medications, but this isn't an exact science. I strive to make the best recommendations that I can for you based on your unique situation, but please know that medications often take time, patience, and trial and error. There is no magic key (not even with genetic testing, yet). I know this from my own personal journey with mental health. Please note I am also temporarily limited in my ability to prescribe controlled substances while I get certain systems up and running. I am also not set up to accept Medicare/Medicaid at this time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you book your first visit through Zocdoc, we will attempt to verify your insurance info through a company called Headway. They manage my billing/admin work and will help you get your account set up, send you a few standard forms such as privacy practices, and collect payment info. If we are unable to verify your insurance info or reach you to confirm the appointment, we may cancel it- but you would then be welcome to reschedule. For our first visit I like to spend about an hour getting to know you and your mental health history and current goals. We will discuss potential medications options that may be right for you, although some people prefer to wait until their follow-up to decide on a medication. My follow-ups are usually 30 minutes and monthly (at first) depending on your needs and progress.
