While working as a registered nurse on the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at UAB Hospital and as a travel COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit nurse, she pursued a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in Women’s Health at the UAB School of Nursing. Additionally, while pursing her advanced degree, she was an educator at the UAB School of Nursing in their BSN program as a graduate teaching assistant and a clinical instructor in the women’s department. Her DNP project focused on utilizing evidence-based tools to implement trauma-informed care into nursing practice to improve patient outcomes. She graduated with her doctorate in 2022 and became a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner. She has been working as a women’s health nurse practitioner in the DMV area for the last 2 years. She is passionate about working with various obstetric and gynaecological patients from adolescence through menopause, while specializing in working with victims of sexual trauma. She is an active member of the Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health professional and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners professional communities. She’s a vocal advocate and public speaker for victims of sexual trafficking. She enjoys music, travelling, cooking, and staying active with her husband and their dog. Ciara is excited to be a part of the team and continue building relationships with new clients!
