What should a new client know about working with you?

My name is Cindy, and I’m a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). It has become my mission to decrease the stigma on mental health and my passion for helping others heal, one smile at a time. I will provide you with passionate, quality, and comprehensive health services. All treatments will be a collaborative effort. Mental health has always been a challenging topic, so I strive to provide you with a safe environment and judgment-free zone. I've too, have lost loved ones to mental health; after healing, and without question, I made the best decision of my life and refocused my goals to align with my heart to pursue a specialty in mental health. Allow me to help you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first phase of working with clients is the diagnostic process. The diagnostic process involves gathering relevant information from a person through a detailed interview that includes discovering the person’s main concerns, symptoms, and life history. This information consists of the results from psychological tests or questionnaires and information obtained from the person’s family and/or from previous treatment records. More specifically, before a diagnosis is given, they determine whether the person’s symptoms match the DSM’s criteria for a particular mental disorder and if there is a significant level of disturbance in the person’s cognitive, emotional, or behavioral functioning.
