Getting to know Clarissa Brown

I am a Nurse Practitioner with 14 years of experience in healthcare. I believe that mental health is essential to getting the most out of your life. Many people wait until they have exhausted all coping skills and resources before reaching out for psychiatric services. You don't have to suffer and wait before taking a chance and getting a comprehensive evaluation. I earned my Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Molloy University and hold a Bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's University, New York.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a passion for working with vulnerable populations, people with chronic mental health issues, like major depression, and bipolar, I also work with patients with opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder. I believe in treating people with dignity and respect. I believe that the patient and provider need to be a team to get the best results. I provided evidence based information in a language that is understandable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting with a 60 min psychiatric evaluation. to assess need for medication management, encouraging honesty and openness in a non judgmental space.

Very professional. I felt that I was heard and wasn’t rushed! Will definitely recommend!
Maybe it’s unfair to give her one star, but in fact that a counselor/nurse practitioner/psychologist/psychiatrist refused to take Medicare claiming they’re not credentialed primarily. I don’t know this woman, but it’s unfair that she’s one of many who do not adhere to helping the human condition. of mental health thank you

I have been seeing Dr. Brown for around 3 years now and I couldn't recommend her enough. She has helped me with my depression, anxiety, sleep problems, grief, and trauma, both by prescribing medicine but also by simply validating my issues. She is incredibly sympathetic and recognizes that her job is not just to diagnose, but to care for her patients and hear them out. She is kind, non-judgmental, and has never made me feel dismissed in any way, unlike some past experiences with other mental health professionals. She occasionally runs late and appointments can be pricey but I value Dr. Brown's help a lot.
Bedside manner was amazing. She made me feel really comfortable! I appreciate her patience with me, especially with myself being so scatterbrained. It was an overall wonderful eye opening experience.

5 stars! I was very nervous about talking to someone about my various issues, but my fears were immediately calmed during my appointment. Clarissa gave me the time I needed to explain my situation and gave thoughtful feedback during the session. I know this is the first step in my journey of becoming healthier, but I am confident that I have found the correct guide!
