Dr. Upton is a doctorally-prepared psychiatric nurse practitioner who earned both his Bachelor's degree and Doctorate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. He has worked in a wide variety of mental health care settings over the past 8 years prior to founding Upton Wellness.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Dr. Upton licensed to treat all ages with special interest in Men’s mental health, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and holistic medicine. Dr. Upton understands that we do not all fit into boxes, we are complex beings with complex lives. To obtain optimal mental health care it is of utmost importance to use a holistic approach and take the time to look at each client as an individual complex being. Doing so allows clients to reach their goals with the best possible outcomes for success.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Dr. Upton believes in taking a more holistic approach in regard to mental health. Looking at the whole body and the root cause of symptoms is a priority for true healing. He specializes in medication management, ketamine therapy for anxiety and depression, and psychotherapy
Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $250 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $150 for 30 minutes

Upton Wellness is a self-pay practice, allowing treatment decisions to remain between you and your provider. Being self pay allows us to eliminate high deductible plans, reduce the number of people who have access to your medical record, eliminate surprise billing, more control over appropriate frequency of sessions and treatment options. It also allows you to see a provider you fit with best instead of leaving that up to the insurance companies. We accept all major credit cards and Health Savings Accounts. We offer payment plans for those eligible.
We are happy to support you in providing a superbill, which is the documentation necessary (a receipt of sorts) to submit to your insurance company directly for out-of-network reimbursement. We cannot guarantee coverage of any portion of your treatment, as each insurance plan is different. You are encouraged to contact your insurance company to find out exactly what will be covered. By eliminating the back and forth that working with insurance companies often requires, we are grateful to maximize our time, energy, and availability to best serve our clients.

Doctor Upton was fantastic. He listened very closely, took my feelings, and my opinions on my health and quality of life very seriously. He asked me numerous questions about different medications. Some I had used before and some I had not. What was refreshing was, Dr. Upton and I came up with a medication together that looked to be the best fit for my needs. He was 100% transparent and offered me to call or message anytime, if I had questions or concerns. I would recommend Dr. Upton to anyone looking for a great doctor, that has their patients best interest at heart.

I love being able to be honest about what’s going on and being able to give my input on my treatment plan. Dr. Upton looks for more options than just prescribing medication, he looks at the whole picture. I’ve always been nervous to see different providers because I felt like what I wanted wasn’t considered. Dr. Upton goes above and beyond to make sure your needs are met, but also truly listens to what your goals are. I have already recommended him to all of my friends and family, and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

I highly recommend Dr Upton! He gives great care and concern for his patients. He listened to my needs and recommended many things including how to make my meds affordable with my low income. He uses a holistic approach which includes, meds, therapy, and also recommend primary care in house as well as a gym on site. The office is very nice and has a very relaxing feel and atmosphere. You can’t go wrong, you’ll be satisfied that second you walk in! Such a breath of fresh and air! I’m so glad I found Dr Upton!
