Coleen Harbin, PMHNP

Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
MD
Hi! I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Temple University. Before becoming a registered nurse, I worked for several years in the mental health field. These experiences include roles as a mental health specialist at So Others Might Eat in Washington, DC, a rehabilitation specialist at Arundel Lodge in Annapolis, MD, and a psychiatric tech at Dominion Hospital in McLean, Virginia. I decided to become a registered nurse to gain a better understanding of physical health and wellness. Over my 17 years of nursing, I have worked in diverse settings, including the burn/trauma/surgical intensive care unit for MedStar Health, as a community health nurse for Health Care for the Homeless of Montgomery County MD government, and as a psychiatric nurse at Dominion Hospital. I have a passion for breaking the stigma that often surrounds mental illness. Now, as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I aspire to empower people with mental illness to be their best advocates. I believe this can be achieved through education, self-awareness, accountability, and encouragement. By doing so, clients become more informed about their mental health, learn how to manage it successfully, collaborate effectively with their providers, and no longer view mental illness as something to be ashamed of. My areas of interest are anxiety and depression.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
