Dr. Colin Goodman, MD

Dr. Colin Goodman, MD

Psychiatrist
KY
I practice integrative psychiatry, combining medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle-based approaches to address the underlying factors affecting mental health. After earning my medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and completing residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center, I pursued additional training in functional and integrative psychiatry. I especially enjoy working with young adults and have interests in anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, ADHD, personality disorders, and questions of meaning and purpose. I believe effective treatment begins with understanding you as a whole person, not just your symptoms or diagnosis. My approach is collaborative and individualized, drawing from Internal Family Systems, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and CBT. I view medication as one tool among many and, when appropriate, aim to minimize medication burden. I also welcome exploring how faith, relationships, family, community, and personal values contribute to your well-being, including integrating Christian faith when meaningful to you. I begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your history, symptoms, previous treatments, and goals while considering lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, exercise, relationships, and stress. Together, we identify contributing factors and develop a personalized plan that may include psychotherapy, medication, and lifestyle changes. During follow-up visits, we adjust our approach as your needs evolve, with the goal of helping you feel better, build resilience, and create a more meaningful, fulfilling life.
