Greetings! I am Colleen Irwin, a dually board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health care. With a deep understanding of the human mind and a passion for helping others, I strive to empower individuals on their journey toward mental well-being.
Education and Experience:
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kennesaw State University, where I developed a strong foundation in holistic patient care. I continued my education at Kennesaw State University, obtaining a Master's degree in Family Nursing. After many years working in family medicine, I completed a post-certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach to treatment relies heavily on a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. Working together as a "team" we develop the best and most practical solutions to address their unique needs.
My unique and broad background adds to my skills as a clinician and helps me to see and appreciate the "big picture".
With my 16 years experience as a nurse practitioner and personal diversity offers me a better opportunity to empathically understand and "get it" (the best one can) with regard to my clients' struggles.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
This first visit, starts with an initial consult which involves me asking a series of questions in order to get to know you better. The session usually lasts 45-60 minutes.
Follow up visits take 20-30 minutes depending on any changes that need to be made.

I highly recommend my psychiatrist for her exceptional care and compassion. She truly listens, makes me feel understood, and always takes the time to find the best approach for my needs. Dr. Colleen is by far the best doctor I've ever had. Our communication is clear. She not only explains to me medications and protocol, she also lets you talk and actually listens to what you have to say. I don't do reviews, just not the review type of guy. Colleen is the 1st provider that I have seen in this field that has genuinely made me feel like she cares about my well-being. Most of the time I just felt like a paycheck and it made the pursuit of help very difficult for me. She spent extra time with me to help alleviate my fears of extended medication use.
