“Zocdoc told me I had an appointment today at 11:20, and I waited for the invitation for the video visit. When it got close to the time, I called because I hadn't received anything from their office, and was informed that zocdoc didn't file the appointment at all. Luckily Dr Shumate and his staff was able to accommodate me and I was able to be seen at 5:30 today. Him and his staff are wonderful, but zocdoc clearly is not working properly. I even have an email from zocdoc confirming my 11:20 am appointment, but his office had no record of it. ”

**We do have a list of providers WHO OFFER NEUROPSYCHIATRIC EXAMINATIONS and accept MEDICAID.**
**If you are currently prescribed a STIMULANT, the provider MAY/MAY NOT CONTINUE THE MEDICATION; THAT IS CASE BY CASE.**

Mr. Corey W. Shumate was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, in the West Garfield Park, Austin Community, and Ravenswood areas.
Mr. Shumate graduated from Proviso West High School. He completed his Associate of General Science at Triton College. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Soon after, Mr. Shumate attended Lakeview College of Nursing, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After working for more than six years as a registered nurse, charge nurse, and nursing supervisor on psychiatric units, Mr. Shumate pursued an advanced practice nurse degree at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. There, he earned his Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree.
Mr. Shumate has practiced for the past five years. He specializes in depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance abuse, sleep disorders, and ADHD. He considers himself a “forever student,” eager to build on his academic foundations in advanced nurse practice and psychiatry through continued coursework and professional development. His hunger for knowledge and determination to turn information into action have contributed to his recent success and the start of Ear to Ear Behavioral Health Solutions.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Concern and respect for others are important themes. My initial evaluations and follow ups are client centered. I attempt to assist clients change by emphasizing their concern, care and interest. I do not tie myself to any one approach. Instead, I blend elements from different approaches and tailor treatment according to each client's needs.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
When a person takes the major step of scheduling an appointment & attending their first session, they have taken actionable measures to begin their healing journey. During our first session establishing comfort, self expression & vulnerability is of the upmost importance. We believe our sessions are not something that patients come to depend on, but rather should be a practice that affords patients with the skills, knowledge & tools to live a healthy, productive & successful life on their own.

Gave me two numbers to call in case I needed a prior authorization for my meds, I called one, they said they'd let him know. Nothing happened. About two weeks later I call the other number. Same thing happens. Was told we had another appointment set up, when that day came I received a video call link 50 minutes late, I joined and there was nothing/no one. I look to see if I can book another appt and there didn't seem to be anything available.

Dr. Shumate was more than professional and sympathetic to all of my medical needs. Very informative and very easy to talk with. I was able to easily connect with Dr. Shumate and he was on time for the appointment as well as laid back, which made me feel comfortable right away. This Mental Health Doctor of NP was not only friendly but very concise and treated me with respect and paid close attention to my needs. I would recommend Dr. Shumate to anyone who has a complex mental health need or who haven't had luck with previous practitioners. Five stars.

I highly recommend NP Corey Shamute! I had my first video visit appointment, he listened and understood my conditions. He was very familiar with my previous medications. He’s very nice, caring, compassionate and kind. I would like to also mention he’s very professional and prompt. He knew what would work best for me, and even sent me a savings card for the pharmacy, no doctor has ever done that before. If you want someone who cares, snd wants to see you happier and healthier - then I recommend NP Corey Shamute . Book with him if accepts your insurance, and if you want to get better. I give him five out of five!
