Courtney Shockley, PMHNP-BC, APRN

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
721 12200 S, Draper, UT
Please note: I am accepting new patients for ongoing medication management support. I do not provide therapy. Hi, I'm Courtney! I have a love for life and people. Early on I discovered that helping people find joy in life expanded far beyond ER bedside nursing. This was the catalyst to becoming a PMHNP. I am inspired by humans' innate ability to overcome adversity through introspection, medication consideration and whole person approaches that address big and small details alike. Being an ER nurse for 10 years I recognized firsthand the need for mental health support. From inner city hospitals to level 1 trauma centers, I saw patients who presented with physical ailments. However, it was the look of fear and hopelessness that drove my desire to reach the deeper parts of a person's pain. From homeless addicts to postpartum mothers, to every-day life struggles, I believe in meeting a person where they are and walking with them in their journey through mental health.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Through practice of my own healing, I understand and appreciate the work that patients put into their overall wellness. I believe at the core of each of us is the desire for connection and empathy; my desire is to meet my patients where they are and help them grow to see the light in the midst of their darkness. Being a native Texan, the past two years in Utah have been an eye opening and thrilling experience! My husband, I and our five children have been on an incredible journey. This has allowed me to experience both the struggles and joys of motherhood and marriage. I enjoy farmers markets with my family, being in nature and drinking coffee on my porch every morning.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start with a thorough evaluation to understand your history, current challenges, and priorities. Together, we create a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapy referrals, or lifestyle strategies to strengthen overall wellness. I check in regularly with patients, adjusting treatment as needed, and strive to create a safe and empathetic space where you feel comfortable working through challenges and moving toward lasting change.

After scheduling your appointment, you will receive an email from Stella Mental Health (formerly Numinus) containing your intake paperwork. Please allow about 30 minutes to complete this form. Your responses will help your provider prepare for your upcoming appointment. All patients are required to complete the intake form 24 business hours before their appointment. You will receive a phone call from one of our dedicated Care Advocates, who can answer any questions you may have. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to keep on file for co-pays or cancellation fees. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full intake appointment fee ($292). During your intake appointment, you’ll spend 60 minutes with your provider collaborating on a treatment plan tailored to your needs. If in-person treatments are recommended—such as TMS, Spravato, DSR SGB, or ketamine therapy—our care team will guide you through the process and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
