Courtney Swartz, NP

Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatry)
4850 Union Ave, San Jose, CA
I am a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with specializations in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) and primary care (FNP). Born and raised on the East Coast, I started my path to LGTC with a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, after which I worked in the medical and psychiatric emergency departments. After moving to California, I completed my FNP program at Samuel Merritt and my PMHNP certification at UCSF. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of conditions across all levels of severity. I am here to help those struggling with depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. My approach to psychiatric care is patient-centered and holistic. While medication can be life changing, I view it as one tool in the recovery toolbox. We work together to make decisions for your mental health and well-being, trusting that you know yourself better than I ever will. In my practice, I find it rewarding working with teenagers and young adults struggling with depressive and anxiety disorders who are trying to navigate through this era of social media, materialism, and the pressure to fit in. I’m also passionate about caring for LGBTQ+ youth and adults. I am well-versed in the unique needs and experiences of the intellectually gifted and high achievers. That said, I can work with anyone across the lifespan who needs my support. Those closest to me describe me as passionate, ambitious, and open-minded. My Zoom room is judgment-free, and a safe place to be yourself. You don’t have to struggle alone!
