Cynthia Love, APRN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
TX
You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or a perfectly organized story. We can begin with what you are experiencing and work from there. I am an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults. My clinical background includes outpatient psychiatry, telepsychiatry, acute behavioral health, psychiatric crisis care, and high-acuity nursing, which allows me to approach treatment with both psychiatric and medical awareness. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, sleep concerns, substance-related disorders, and other complex mental health needs. I also provide autism-informed psychiatric care and have experience supporting patients with treatment-resistant mood symptoms. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and evidence-informed. Medication is never treated as the entire plan. When medication is appropriate, I focus on careful selection, safe titration, ongoing monitoring, education, and shared decision-making. I want patients to understand their treatment, feel comfortable asking questions, and leave appointments with a clear sense of what comes next. My goal is to create a space where care feels personal, clinically thorough, and grounded in the realities of your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

At Avenelle Wellness & Psychiatric Services, your first appointment is a place for honest conversations, not perfect answers. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly how to explain what you’ve been experiencing. We can begin wherever you are. You are encouraged to speak openly about your experiences, including when a medication hasn’t helped, when a previous diagnosis doesn’t feel right, or when you’re uncertain about treatment. Your questions, concerns, and preferences are not just welcomed; they are an essential part of your care. I believe you deserve more than a diagnosis or a prescription. You deserve to understand your mental health, the reasoning behind clinical recommendations, and the options available to you. Together, we will explore treatment approaches, including their potential benefits, risks, and alternatives, so that decisions are informed, collaborative, and aligned with your individual needs. Preparing for Your First Visit Before your appointment, you will receive access to Avenelle’s secure patient portal (PHR), where you can complete your intake questionnaires and provide relevant medical and medication history. Please have a list of your current medications and previous treatments available. For virtual appointments, choose a quiet, private setting where you feel comfortable speaking openly. My commitment is to provide thoughtful, evidence informed psychiatric care that looks beyond symptoms to understand the person experiencing them. At Avenelle, your experiences matter, your voice matters, and your care should reflect both.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My style is calm, collaborative, and thorough. I take time to understand your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, current medications, daily functioning, and what you would genuinely like to improve. I want you to feel heard without feeling rushed or reduced to a checklist. When medication may be helpful, we will talk through the options together, including expected benefits, possible side effects, alternatives, and what we will monitor over time. I use careful medication adjustments . Visits may also include supportive psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, practical coping strategies, and psychoeducation when appropriate. My goal is for you to leave each appointment understanding what we are addressing, why we are choosing a particular approach, and what comes next. Care should feel clear, personal, and manageable.
