About Dana Gartlan
Dana is a Speech Language Pathologist providing in-home speech therapy services in Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
Dana has been a practicing speech and language pathologist for 7 years. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at Illinois State University in 2010 and went on to pursue her Master’s of Science at NYU in Communicative Sciences and Disorders in 2013.
Dana is an ASHA and ISHA certified and Illinois State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist that works with both the pediatric and adult population.
She has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinic, in-home speech services, and the public school system.
Dana’s areas of expertise include receptive and expressive language disorders, cognitive-communication disorders, and implementing AAC. She also has extensive experience working with children with a medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
She closely collaborates with other professionals such as Occupational and Physical Therapists, Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapists, Pediatricians, and Otolaryngologists. She typically provides co-treatments with Occupational Therapists that target sensory integration therapy and ABA therapists that target positive and functional behaviors.
Dana has the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) LOUD certification necessary to improve voice and speech skills in patient's with Parkinson's Disease. She is also a PECS Level I Certified Implementer. Dana has been trained in SOS feeding assessment and treatment for the pediatric population. She is trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to Reading Instruction. Her current areas of interest are implementing AAC with the Autism and Brain Injury Population.
