Getting to know Daniel Galage

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) licensed in New York, providing virtual psychiatric care for adults. I specialize in structured psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, mood concerns, attention and focus difficulties, and sleep problems. My approach is thoughtful, practical, and collaborative, with an emphasis on clear communication and realistic treatment planning. I ask targeted questions to develop a clear clinical picture and ensure treatment decisions are appropriate and individualized. My goal is to make the process straightforward and transparent, with a clear plan for next steps. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked for several years as a psychiatric nurse with adults in a variety of settings, and in addiction recovery and care for individuals living with disabilities. I now work primarily with adults ages 20–70. I currently offer virtual appointments, with plans for limited in-person availability in the future.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice focuses on structured psychiatric evaluation and medication management rather than open-ended talk therapy alone. I work best with clients who value clear communication, collaboration, and setting realistic expectations from the start.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first appointment is a focused psychiatric evaluation. We review your history, current symptoms, prior treatments, and what you’re hoping to improve. I ask targeted questions to develop a clear clinical picture and guide individualized treatment decisions. By the end of the visit, you can expect a clear plan for next steps. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring response to treatment and making adjustments as needed.

Insurance can be complicated, and we want to help avoid any confusion. While I accept certain commercial insurance plans (such as Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Anthem, Empire, etc.), please note that I do not accept Medicaid or Medicare plans—even if they are administered or “managed” by one of the insurers I work with. Additionally, if you receive coverage from one of the insurances I work with for medical ailments, but mental health benefits are covered through medicaid or medicare, this is not a form of coverage I accept. If you’re unsure about your coverage, I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to confirm before booking.
