I’m Daniel Kamarey, a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care. I am licensed in Nevada, Utah, Washington, Oregon and New Mexico. I aim to empower individuals on their journey to emotional well-being by personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs. What is your typical process for working with clients?
Your first appointment is a chance for us to get to know each other and to understand what brings you in. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), my approach is collaborative, respectful, and individualized—you are the expert on your life, and I bring clinical expertise to help guide your care.
Initial Evaluation (First Visit)
During your first session, we will:
Talk about your current concerns and symptoms
Review your mental health history, medical history, and any past treatments
Discuss medications you are currently taking or have tried before
Explore relevant life stressors, sleep, substance use (if any), and support systems
Screen for conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, and others as clinically appropriate
I use evidence-based assessment tools, clinical interviews, and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria to form an accurate diagnosis. Diagnoses are never rushed—sometimes they evolve over time as we better understand your symptoms.
Treatment Planning
At the end of the evaluation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include:
Medication management (when appropriate)
Brief psychotherapy and supportive counseling
Education about your diagnosis and treatment options
Lifestyle recommendations (sleep, stress management, routines)
Referrals to therapy or additional services if needed
You will always be involved in decisions about your care. My goal is to help you understand why we choose certain treatments—not just prescribe and move on.
